Officer-involved shooting incidents give rise to a wide range of issues for the officers, family members, and departments involved. In many cases, departments do not have established protocols designed to address the personal side of these incidents and deal with the impact of officer-involved shootings on relationships, family, friends, and work experiences. This free course explores the human experience stemming from officer involved shootings. Drawing from a variety of interviews with officers and spouses, the course discusses the reality of what officers might experience after shooting incidents and explores the impact of shooting incidents participants, family members, and officers who were present at a shooting but did not pull the trigger. The course contains a video along with a variety of helpful resources, and provides officers with the opportunity to listen to men, women, and spouses who have gone through an officer-involved shooting and learn from their experiences.
