Welcome to the Basic Scenes of Crime Awareness pilot course for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.

The RCIPS Training & Development Unit (TDU) will be rolling out more training content in the near future but this is your chance to update or refresh your knowledge in relation to basic SOCO matters. The training is divided into five separate modules and each has a short video outlining and reinforcing the training objectives.

At the conclusion of this course you will:

a) Have better knowledge of the RCIPS SOCO structure

b) Understand the basic science behind the important trace evidence that we encounter

c) Increase your awareness of contamination issues

d) Understand and appreciate the importance of correct packaging of exhibits

e) Have an awareness of your requirements as the first responder to a scene and your responsibilities

A short knowledge check/quiz will conclude the training and after successful completion you will be awarded a training certificate (sent directly to your registered email address). This training recognition can then be used to evidence your EPM training objectives and go some way to achieving your performance targets for continuous professional development.

Thank you for participating in the course and we look forward to any feedback you may have at the end of the session.
