With more and more individuals traveling throughout Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa an increasing number individuals, corporations and government agencies are finding themselves facing the global crisis of kidnapping. It is estimated that there are 15,000-20,000 kidnap, detentions and extortions that take place globally each year. In reality, the number is probably much higher as it is estimated that only 35% of all kidnapping worldwide are reported to the authorities. This advanced level course discusses the threat, the various types of kidnappings and examines specific case studies, personal security, threat assessment, understanding the process of a kidnapping, conducting a personal vulnerability assessment, you public profile, the danger of a daily routine, opportunistic threats, insider threats, deception and ruses, techniques to mitigate risks, personal preparation, the Terrorist Attack Cycle / patterns, precautions against kidnapping, executive profiles, surveillance, options for targeted individuals, hostage survival, crisis stages, interrogation, hostage incident resolution, special considerations and coping with captivity.
